Cats

When taking a cat to Australia or traveling with a cat to Australia, you will need an animal health certificate, as well as identification and rabies antibody test declarations. The conditions for exporting cats can be found in the animal health certificate agreed upon between Finland and Australia. Your municipality's official veterinarian (municipal or city veterinarian) will issue these certificates. In addition, you will require an import permit from Australian authorities. Dogs

When taking a dog to Australia or traveling with a dog to Australia, you will need an animal health certificate, as well as identification and rabies antibody test declarations. The conditions for exporting dogs can be found in the animal health certificate agreed upon between Finland and Australia. Your municipality's official veterinarian (municipal or city veterinarian) will issue these certificates. In addition, you will require an import permit from Australian authorities. General instructions for completing the certificates

When completing the certificates, please take into consideration:

  • Fill in all fields on the certificate.
  • Fill in the fields "Competent local authority issuing this certificate" and "Competent authority of the exporting country" with the name of your municipality's control unit in English.

Ensure that the certificates are numbered with a unique certificate number at the upper right corner of odd-numbered pages. The certificate number should be formatted as XX/YYYY/YYYY, where:

  • XX = the name, abbreviation, or number of the supervisory authority or area
  • YYYY = the year of issuance of the certificate
  • OOOO = a running number specific to the certificate's supervisory unit, ensuring that no two certificates can have the same number.

You can print the completed certificates on standard A4 paper. The municipal official veterinarian will verify the information on the certificates with their signature.
