Japan

The regulations for import of cats and dogs to Japan require for example a microchip, a minimum of two rabies vaccinations and a *Rabies Neutralising Antibody Titre Test (RNATT) and a waiting period of 180 days. Detailed instructions are found on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF): Animal Quarantine Service.

*) A result of 0.5 or > 0.5 shows that the quantity of antibodies is sufficient and the animal can be exported based on this result as long as the other conditions for export are fulfilled. If the result is < 0.5, the animal does not have the quantity of antibodies that is required for export.
