Imports of polyamide (PA plastic) and melamine kitchenware imported from China and Honkong have been restricted by an EU regulation. According to the Regulation, plastic kitchenware of polyamide and melamine originating in or consigned from the China or Hong Kong may import into Member States only if the importer submits to the competent authority for each consignment a duly filled declaration confirming that the consignment meets them as regards the release of primary aromatic amines (PAAs) and formaldehyde requirements.
Migration of PAA substances must not exceed 0.01 mg/kg and migration of formaldehyde must not exceed 15 mg/kg.
