You should eat fish at least twice a week. It is advisable to use a variety of different species. However, highly salty fish products should not be eaten frequently.
Make sure you eat fish safely
Special recommendations on eating fish have been issued for children, teenagers and people of reproductive age, as regardless of the good nutritional qualities of fish, salmon and Baltic herring caught in the Baltic Sea, and especially in the Gulf of Bothnia and the Gulf of Finland, may expose you to increased quantities of harmful dioxins and PCBs. Freshwater predatory fish, including pike, may contain increased amounts of methylmercury.
