You can prepare for the Hygiene Passport test in different ways. For example, you can participate in training to take the test, but you can also study basic food hygiene information independently, e.g. from the internet and books.
Training related to food hygiene is given, for example, in the educational institutions of the food sector as part of studies. Many companies and Hygiene Passport examiners also organize training.
Finnish Food Authority does not organise training related to hygiene proficiency. The Food Authority is also not responsible for the training, publications or study materials that different parties or Hygiene Passport Examiners may provide. There are no rules, regulations or instructions on training.
Finnish Food Authority's internet pages contain information on the different areas of food hygiene:
- Basic information on microbiology and food contamination
- Food poisonings (in Finnish)
- Hygiene work methods
- Personal hygiene
- Sanitation (in Finnish)
- Own check
- Legislation and authorities
Legislation on food hygiene can be found on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (register I of the legislative directory).
