March 26/2025

Do you need a Hygiene Passport, for example for summer jobs? Now you can practice for the Hygiene Passport test with new model test questions. The Finnish Food Authority's model test contains 40 statements from different areas of food hygiene. In the model test, you can also see the correct answers to the statements and their justifications.

The test statements are about microbes, food poisoning, hygienic work methods, personal hygiene, sanitation, own-check and legislation. The updated questions are available in Finnish, Swedish and English.

You can get a Hygiene Passport after successfully completing the Hygiene Passport test. The tests are organised by Hygiene Passport Examiners approved by the Finnish Food Authority around Finland. Approximately 10 000 test sessions are organized and an average of approximately 65 000 Hygiene Passports are issued each year.

The Finnish Food Authority is responsible for and maintains the Hygiene Passport system. The Finnish Food Authority guides and supervises the activities of Hygiene Passport Examiners. Municipal food control authorities supervise the implementation of the hygiene competence obligation in food companies, such as restaurants, catering kitchens and food factories.

A hygiene Passport is required for anyone who works on food premises and handles unpackaged perishable food.
