Bluetongue is a viral disease of ruminants, which is spreading further north than before due to climate warming. The cases closest to Finland have been in Germany and Denmark. The disease is transmitted by insect bites, and in Finland there are several Culicoides species that can spread the virus. The goal of the project was to prepare a risk profile for the spread of bluetongue to sheep and cattle populations in Finland.
