Evaluation of the surveillance program for bovine diseases

Surveillance of a number of bovine diseases in Finland is based on legal requirements. In this project, the surveillance programs for infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR), bovine virus diarrhea (BVD), brucellosis and bovine enzootic leucosis for 2014 and 2015 are evaluated. The focus is on the ability of the surveillance programs to prove that Finland fulfills the criteria for freedom of disease.

If the proof is insufficient or substantially exceeds the requirements, the necessary measures needed to effectively fulfill the requirements using present sample materials will be evaluated.

The results will be published in a report highlighting relevant surveillance proposals for the coming years.
